So I know it's been awhile since I have updated my blog. I have been really busy. With what you may ask well motherhood of course. It is amazing. My kids drive me crazy, especially my daughters. My house never stays clean for longer that an hour, someone is always hungry and I can never get any work done but my world would be empty without them. My oldest daughter is giving my a lot of trouble as most pre-teen girls do. My two year old it doing what two year olds do best. Getting into everything and bouncing off the walls. My son and his snarky comments and digs at his sisters they are all just insane but I love them all more than my next breath of air, and I need them just as much.
That being said I am making some headway on Shift. I have been working on it as much as I can. I've been reading my work and I like what I'm reading but I am bias so I don't really think my opinion really matters. So it will be up to my readers. I am hoping the you all will enjoy reading it as much as I am enjoying writing it. I've been finding time somehow not really sure how (I'm sure it has something to do with only sleeping about 5 hours a day) but I have been reading some books as well the latest book that I read was The Ghost Hunter By Lori Brighton. I really enjoyed it.
Before I go maybe I should give you a little something to enjoy while you wait. Here is a little teaser from my upcoming book Shift Bond Unbroken.
TEASER
Aamina sat at the table with Yasmin slurping down her second soda. Every few minutes or so her eyes would dart around to the entrance. She was sure that Yasmin thought she was crazy to be honest she thought so herself. Her subconscious was taking over her life. Bringing her dreams out into the light of day, making her act like a mental case. The stresses of her life were finally catching up with her.
“Aamina.” Yasmin whispered loudly waving her hand in front of Aamina’s face. “If you don’t start talking soon I’m going to march you right across campus to student counselling “
Aamina blinked a few time before saying “I’m not sure exactly what to say.”
“What happened to you today? You could start there.”
“Let’s just say I woke up on the wrong side of the couch.”
“Huh, Aamina you’re not making any sense.”
“Oh” Aamina groaned slapping her hand over her eyes. “None of what I’m about to tell you is going to make any sense. You’ll probably bypass student counselling and take me straight to mental health after I tell you what’s bothering me.”
“Try me?” Yasmin said leaning back in her seat and giving Aamina a bemused look.
“I guess I should start at the beginning.” She said taking a sip of her soda. “All summer long I have been having dreams, dreams of a man.”
Aamina eyed Yasmin for some sort of reaction, when she saw none she continued. I have watched this man being hanged, shot, and tortured. But every night he is there in my dreams as though nothing happened. Save the scars he otherwise appears to be the picture of health.”
“I dreamt of him one night speaking to a guard and the next morning I woke up and was able to speak Farsi. And today while I was in history 1160 I saw him.”
“Aamina,” Yasmin said shaking her head in disappointment. “You fell asleep in history class honestly it can’t be that boring.”
“I didn’t fall asleep Yasmin. He was there I mean like really there standing in front of me.”
“The guy from your dreams was standing in your history 1160 class.” She stared at her doubtfully
“Yes.” Aamina said nodding vehemently. “I knew his name before he even said it to me.”
“You spoke to him?” Yasmin was sitting on the edge of her seat now.
“Well no not really, he tried to introduce himself but I high tailed it out of there before he could say much more.
Yasmin sat back in her seat and stared at Aamina. “You know maybe you taking this history class was a bad idea. I do believe the strain of having to do real work has addled your brain.”
“You don’t believe me?” Aamina said disheartened.
“It’s all just really hard to swallow Aamina.” Yasmin sigh and folded her arms across her chest. “I mean come on if the shoe was on the other foot would you believe me?”
“I would try.” Aamina said acidly.
“Well as much as I would like to. It’s a bit too much to wrap my head around.”
“Look I have to go Yas. I’ve missed the last two days of work and I don’t want to miss anymore so I‘m going to go home and get ready.” Aamina said standing to leave.
“Aww, Aamina don’t be angry with me.”Yasmin said standing up to stop Aamina from leaving. “I want to believe you really I do. In the meantime why don’t you drop that history class? You don’t have to continue it on my account.”
“No I’m no quitter, I’ll just avoid dream boy at all costs. See ya later, Yas.”
“Bye Aamina.”
ENJOY.
