Every now and the during the day I have to take a break from write and do something pointless. So today I was trolling facebook as I often do when I'm board and I came across one the those little pictures with the snarkie phrases on it and this one said something about moves like Jagger. A song a happen to like the only problem is now the song is stuck in my head and I can't stop singing it so I figured the only remedy to this is to pass it on so I am going to attach the video to this blog in the hopes that it gets stuck in someone else's head and gets out of mine. Enjoy, I'm getting back to work.
I have been working so very hard on shift in the hopes that I can have it done by the end of November. I am enjoying the story line a lot. I really can't wait to complete it so that I can get feedback from readers. I would have to say that this is indeed the hardest part of writing for me. Not being able to write it fast enough. But I don't want to rush it. I want it to be perfect before I put it out. So I have to practice patience which is not one of my strongest points but I am trying. I think I will be doing a cover reveal soon or maybe a teaser but I haven't decided yet. So we will see. Every now and the during the day I have to take a break from write and do something pointless. My book has finally gone to the premium status on smashwords.com. Let me tell you that was a challenge. It took 16 attempts before I finally got the formatting right. But honestly that was my own fault. I have a bad habit of allowing the obvious solution to elude me. Normally it doesn't take me that long to realize what I should have done in the first place but I was out of coffee and my brain was not firing on all cylinders so what can I say. It was a little slow on the uptake. If you are possibly wondering what the heck I am talking about I will tell you. I had this same problem when I uploaded my book to three of the other sites that I used to sell my book. I just couldn't get the formatting right, hence they would reject my book or, I would if I didn't like how the finish product looked. Every time I had that problem eventually (usually in 3 or4 hours) it would dawn on me to just google it like I do everything else and find someone's video tutorial that would give me step by step instructions on how to format my book for said company. Like I said I blame it on the lack of caffeine and sleep deprivation, but it took me almost a week and 16 tries to finally think about googling a tutorial. However once I did I found an awesome one the gave me tips that I had no idea about. The guys name is Paul Salvette, and he is awesome. So before you decide to attempt to publish an ebook with smashwords save yourself some heartache and a headache and go to his website first http://www.paulsalvette.com . Follow his video tutorial step by step (and download Notepad++ if you don't already have it). This will save you so much time because smashwords meat grinder is no joke. They don't let anything through. So now that my book has gone to the premium status with smashwords my book will be available soon on iBookstore, Sony, Page Foundry, and Diesel (hopefully by the end of next week. I'll keep you posted.) I am still waiting on Google Books *sighs* Perhaps someday it will be available there too only time will tell. Next week the kiddies go back to school (I am positively vibrating with excitement over this. ) so that means I can finally throw myself into working on Shift. The way this book had been playing out in my head I cannot wait to get it down on paper. After I have finished writing Shift my next project will be a book I wrote about 4 years ago tentatively entitled Passion's Storm . I have decided that my books will go in this order Romance novel ,Series novel, Romance, Series, etc. I am doing it this way because my Series books actually require a lot more effort than just writing a romance so they need a lot me time and work. And this schedule allows me a break. With that being said it is 3 a.m. and I really should be getting some sleep Night All or is it Morning. Music To sleep by. I did my first ever radio interview yesterday. It was an experience. I like to say thanks to the host DJ Booz for having me out. I enjoyed myself, it was a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to more interviews with him in the future. I have you haven't heard the interview I'll slide it in this blog so you can hear it. In other news I am still waiting for Google Books to finish processing my book. Maybe it will be done by the end of August. (I'm not the most patient person in the world) Sorry. Now as an aside, why didn't anyone tell me about Smashwords.com before I spent hours on end modifying my book for countless different ereaders. Let me tell you what no one told me Formatting is no fun. But if you go to smashwords they will convert it to all of the different formats for you. You just have to do it once. No one told me this. Just make sure the you download a copy of the free Smashwords Style Guide and you are on your way to having you book up loaded and sent out to all of the major ereader companies. So now once I finish Shift Bond Unbroken I only have to reformat it once and it can be sent out to all of the other companies with little effort on my part. And when raising three kids and trying to write full-time. any short cut is welcomed.
So my book is now available on Nook and will soon be available on Google Books. For anyone who is planning to publish a book an sell it through these companies I will give you the tips that you need to do it. Nook is relatively easy IF you can find the website. So I will give that to you now, it is pubit.barnesandnoble.com . Once you get there just set up your account and go from there like I said it is self explanatory. Now Google Books on the other hand is truly a process.
First things first go to google.com and the type in google books in the search box. Click on google books it should be at the top. Once you get there two boxes one says researching a topic and the other should say shop for books. You want to click on the blue link at the bottom of the page that says About Google Books (next to privacy policy). From there it will take you to a page that says About Google Books on the far left side of the screen you will see a list of options select Join now. After you have joined then follow the instructions on how to upload you book it needs to be converted to PDF format before you can upload it. Nook will usually have your book processed and up for sale in about 24 hours however Google Books takes about three weeks *sigh*. Wish someone would have told me that in the beginning. If I have know I would have started working on this a lot sooner. Now about Ipad, it is possible to sell your self published book through them however you need an account with them. I am still working on getting my book in there app store. Once I figure it out I will let you know how to go about doing it. So now it's back to work. I imagine I will be getting a lot more work done in a couple of weeks as the kiddies return to school (color me excited.) It has been a long and eventful summer. My book is now available on amazon.com, Kindle, Kobo.com and at my estore https://www.createspace.com/3829973. Get it now. So excited, this was a lot of work and I am very proud of myself to have saw it through to the end. I have started on the first book in The Shape Shifter Trilogy entitled Shift. I should hopefully have it done by the end of the fall. You can check out the Prologue on my snip its page shown up at the top of this website. I am looking forward to putting out soon. Keep watching for a preview of the cover. Once I get more written I may add a excerpt from the book so keep visiting. I have decided the my publishing schedule will go as follows a romance novel and trilogy book and so on and so on. The next romance novel is already written, it just needs some editing. I am still looking for someone to do my covers, so if you know someone that is handy with a camera, computer graphic or just a great artist send them my way. Credit will be given for all artwork provided. If you have someone in mind send me an email. There is a questions and comments form on my home page. Will I have to get some work done Shift wont write itself. So two nights ago I typed the best two words a writer could ever type. THE END, that's right I am finished writing Remember Me. I have a few more chapters of proofreading to do that I will hopefully have done by the end of the day. I have been proofreading the book as I have been writing it, so I only have a little left to do. I am so overwhelmingly excite that I don't know what to do with myself. As soon as I get the book sent in to the publisher I plan to start focusing on my next book which will be part one of a series that I am going to do. Actually my new series is what has been slowing down the progress of Remember Me. Every time I would try to work on Remember Me, my new series characters would pop into my head and I wouldn't be able to work on Remember Me for days. But it is my rule that I can't start one project before finishing another. I am sure that the reason that the series was so heavily on my mind is because it happens to be in the genre of books that i have been reading as of late. Now that I am finished with Remember Me I can give my series my undivided attention.
I really enjoyed writing Remember me. The story took some unexpected twists and turns (I'm sure that sounds strange coming from the writer but as I have said in previous blogs I am just the writer the characters tell me what to write and I do. The characters became people that I really grew to love. I am sad to see them go. My the will come back some day or show up in some other book. However for now I bid them farewell and ado, It is time to get working on the next big thing. Look for Remember Me soon on Amazon.com and Kindle. I will keep you posted on the series bye for now I have work to do. That is how I want to start this blog off by wishing my son a very happy tenth birthday. I am getting so old. I remember the day I brought him home. But anyhow back to writing. So my computer crashed a week ago. Lucky for me I had enough sense to back up all of my writing on a flash drive and an SD card. Previous experiences have taught me well. (Yes my computer has crash before and I lost all of my work on that book. Minus the unfinished copy I had printed for editing purposes. Needless to say I'm still rewriting that book.) So now I am up and running again and all of my work was safe and sound on my two different modes of alternative storage. So I am getting back to work finishing up a few things so I can send my work in to Createspace.com. I really need to get back to work but today I'm feeling like a Bruno Mars song Oh well back to work. Oh yeah did I mention that summer break has started and all of the kids are home. So I guess you know that means I will work as much as I possibly can. While breaking up sibling arguments and cleaning up incredible messes that you wouldn't think a two year old was capable of. So much for not doing anything.
As the title states I am almost there. Four or five more chapters and my first book will be ready to up loaded to createspace.com. I am so very excited. I have been struggling over the last few weeks to put pen to paper or finger to keyboard. However yesterday something just hit, I'm not sure if it was that my writers block finally lifted or if it was the fact that my own personal deadline is fast approaching, but I couldn't stop typing. I was up until two a.m writing. I finally made myself go to bed when I realized I was make too many typing errors. So now I am up and I have had a nice cup of coffee and I am back in front of my computer. I am almost positive that my desire to write so fervently has a lot to do with all of the great books I have been reading lately. I have been just soaking the good books up I finished the Watcher trilogy five days after I started it. That's right I read all three books in five days. Great job Karice Bolton. I have now moved on to a new series Keary Taylor's Fall of Angels series. I don't know but I think it's the angels that pull me in. Needless to say the last three series I have read have been about angels. Must be a good topic. So you see that must be where the urge to complete my first book has come from. It is just a basic romance novel, I already have my on science fiction novel series in mind and I have been working on it off and on over the last month. However I told myself that I could not give it my full attention until I completed the book I was already working on. You know one thing at a time. So after reading one science fiction romance novel after another my new characters have been screaming for their story to be told. But I had made a promise that I wouldn't move on to start something new until I completed task one. So I mentally decided it was time to finish up the novel I have been working on so that the series I have in my head can finally have its chance the be heard. I am looking forward to writing it. So with out further ado I must get back to work. Bye for now. This song just makes me feel good. Thought I should share it with you. My day had a great start. First of all I got to sleep in until ten am which hasn't been able to happen in a while. I was awakened by my loving husband who brought me breakfast in bed. My favorite part was the delicious coffee that perked me right up and got me out of bed. So now I am going to spend most of my day in front of the computer screen. I have some book reviews I need to write on goodreads.com and some work that need to be done on my book. I am trying to get it finished in a matter of about two weeks so wish me luck. BTW I have read some pretty awesome books in that last few weeks. Amy Bartol's Indebted was a great read. Read it in about 24 hours. If you haven't started reading the Premonition series you really should all three of the first book where amazing. The other series I am reading now is The watcher trilogy by Karice Bolton. Book one was Awakening great read, I read it in like two days. I started book two yesterday entitled Legions. I am at about 85% according to my kindle. What can I say when the book is good I cant put it down. My kindle goes every where with me. Picture me standing in my kitchen stirring a pot of boiling pasta with one hand and my kindle in the other. That is usually me, or I am sitting it the bathroom on the edge of the tub while my two year old is trying to go potty and I am reading my kindle. Sorry I can't help it great books and great authors do that to me. And what can I say there are a lot of great authors out there, and most of them are indie. Gotta love the Indie authors. I am well on my way to joining the club. So with that being said, I need to get to work. So I'll leave you with Florence and the Machine's Cosmic Love, because I am definitely sending love out into the Cosmos for all of the indie writers out there. I have been very lax over the last week or so and I feel horrible about it. I haven't updated my blog in a little over ten days now. I haven't checked my Facebook or Pinterest in just as long. Twitter has gone neglected as well. My writing has gone unfinished. The only thing that has not been ignore is my family. Not sure what is going on really. I guess I could blame it on all the other wifely and motherly duties I have but I'm not going to look for a scapegoat. No I am going to take full responsibility for this one. I am going to give myself a mental kick and the pants and get the ball rolling again. I was doing so well and I need to finish what I have started. Besides I have other characters in my head that are screaming out for their turn to have their stories told. So I have my headphones on Adele is blasting in my ear. The kiddies are occupied with movies and I am in front of the computer with a cup of coffee. All the makings of a bestseller right here in my head. Now I just gotta get it down on paper. Seriously considering not taking phone calls from anyone except my dear hubby. This first book mean a lot to me and it's time I give it the attention it deserves.
